How Much to Charge for Logo Design in India (2026 Guide)
Logo design pricing in India broken down by experience level, client type, and project scope. Real price ranges from beginners to senior studios, plus how to quote and position.
"How much should I charge for a logo?" is the single most common question in every Indian freelance design community.
There is no single number, but there is a range — and the range is determined almost entirely by who you are selling to, not how many hours you spend in Illustrator.
The pricing bands
| Tier | Designer profile | Client type | Logo price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Beginner (0–1 year experience) | Local shops, friends, startups on a budget | ₹2,000 – ₹8,000 |
| 2 | Mid-level (1–3 years, portfolio of real work) | Small businesses, funded startups | ₹10,000 – ₹35,000 |
| 3 | Senior / specialist (3+ years, strong niche) | Established companies, growth-stage startups | ₹40,000 – ₹1,50,000 |
| 4 | Design studio / agency | Mid-sized brands, funded companies | ₹1,50,000 – ₹5,00,000+ |
| 5 | Branding agency with strategy | National brands, Series B+ startups | ₹5,00,000 upwards |
These numbers are what actually gets paid in the Indian market, not theoretical.
Why there is such a wide range
A ₹5,000 logo and a ₹5,00,000 logo are not the same product:
- ₹5,000 logo: You get a mark, maybe two concepts, delivered in a week.
- ₹50,000 logo: Research, mood boarding, 8-12 concepts, 3 rounds of revisions, full logo system (primary, secondary, monogram, wordmark), brand usage rules, multiple color variants, files in all formats, a mini brand book.
- ₹5,00,000 logo: Full brand strategy workshops, customer interviews, competitive audits, naming, identity system, typography selection, color palette rationale, application mockups, launch assets.
You are not selling a vector file. You are selling the risk of getting it wrong. A failed rebrand costs a mid-sized company ₹10–50 lakh in printing, signage, packaging, website rebuilds and customer confusion. Charging ₹50,000 to reduce that risk is a bargain.
How to decide where to price yourself
Ask three questions:
- What can the client afford? A bootstrapped D2C startup doing ₹50k/month cannot pay ₹1 lakh. A Series A startup can.
- How much value does the logo deliver? A logo for a neighbourhood bakery is worth less than a logo for a fintech app launching to 5M users.
- How much do you need to earn? Reverse-engineer your rate:
- Want to earn ₹60,000/month
- Work 20 billable days a month (8 hours each)
- 50% utilisation (half your time is sales, admin, revisions)
- Your effective rate = ₹60,000 ÷ 10 days = ₹6,000/day = ~₹750/hour
- A logo taking 20 hours of work = ₹15,000 minimum
Always include in your quote
- 2-3 initial concepts
- 2 rounds of revisions (more at hourly rate)
- Final deliverables: AI, EPS, SVG, PNG (transparent), JPG
- Color versions: full color, black, white, monochrome
- Usage guide (minimum clear space, color breakdowns, wrong-uses)
- Number of days turnaround
- Payment terms (50% advance)
Put every one of these in your contract.
When to raise prices
Raise prices immediately when:
- You are winning 80% of proposals you send (means you are too cheap)
- You are booked 6+ weeks ahead
- The work feels too easy
- Your portfolio has demonstrable client results (revenue, growth, awards)
Raise prices by 20-30% at a time. The clients who complain about a 20% increase were almost always price-shoppers who would have been difficult anyway.
Pricing mistakes beginners make
- Charging per hour. Clients do not care how many hours you work; they care what they get. Quote a fixed project fee.
- Giving unlimited revisions. It destroys your profitability. Cap it in the contract.
- Not getting an advance. Always take 50% upfront. If a client won't pay 50% deposit, walk away.
- Bidding low to "build portfolio." Do 1-2 free or discounted projects early, then price properly. Free work undervalues the entire industry.
- Undercharging the client who can pay. A client with a ₹10 lakh marketing budget will not respect a ₹5,000 logo. They will assume it is bad.
